FAQs

Sponsoring a Child through Give Hope Africa (GHA)

This supplement aims to lay out the details of Give Hope Africa’s Child Sponsorship Scheme.

What happens when you sponsor a child?

By sponsoring an individual child through GHA you will help them to access medical facilities, nutritional supplement, and receive school uniforms, stationery, tutorial and other educational support. This opportunity will enable them to develop skills to support themselves and live independently in the future. Sponsorship donations are used in a pool system making sure that all children are cared for.

Will I receive information about the child?

Yes. You will receive an annual progress report about your sponsored child. Once the child is old enough they will be encouraged to write to you.

Can I write to the child?

Yes.

How does the sponsorship work and what does sponsorship cost?

Each child is sponsored by a sponsor. The monthly cost is USD 25 (for US sponsors) and GBP 16 (for UK sponsors).

Can I visit the child?

Yes Indeed. You can visit the child whenever it is possible for you in the presence of staff in respective country. Please email us at givehopeafrica@yahoo.com to let us know your visit at least a week earlier.

When Should I make my payments?

Payments are made on the first week of the month. Payments could also be made annually, biannually or quarterly.

What if my circumstances change?

We aim to keep our children sponsored up until the age of 18. Ideally we would like you to sponsor your child for a minimum of 3 years but we do understand that circumstances change and you are free to cancel your sponsorship at any time. We appreciate a written notice.

Is Confidentiality Maintained?

Yes indeed! The details/address of the sponsor are not passed onto a third party, including the child, and equally the sponsor does not have direct access to the child. All correspondence is made through Give Hope Africa and/or country offices.

Can I send gifts?

You can send gifts of money for your child, which will be held in an account for them. The money will be used to provide for any special individual needs they may have or to help them to become independent in the future. We do not accept in kind donations due to logistics limitations.
